Ipas teams from Mozambique, Africa Southern Region, DRC hosted the 21st Anniversary Conference of the Maputo Protocol in Mozambique 10th and 11th July 2024. The Protocol guarantees extensive rights to African women and girls and includes progressive provisions on among others, #SRHR & GBV.
The Maputo Protocol also highlights emerging issues that threaten to women accessing their rights such as adverse climate events, increasing teenage pregnancies, high school dropouts and child marriages. CTS Nexus
The MaputoAt21 conference themes are:
- Legislation and policies to promote women’s rights & gender equality.
- Access to #SRHR services, including safe abortion
- Cultural, social, climate, humanitarian and economic challenges in implementing the Protocol.
